Engineering
Calculations
Each structural repair, dock, deck, slab, or pier, etc. has a different and custom situation. We can take the worst-case scenario or develop typical scenarios for each pile or group of piles on every structure. Our team will provide a full set of custom stamped and engineered ESPRS shop drawings specific to your application.
In those areas, we will analyze:
- Capacity: We will utilize the existing structure to calculate the design strength of the existing piles. Our ESPRS will meet or exceed the original or customer modified specifications.
- Dead Load of the tributary area associated with each piling.
- Live Load of the tributary area. (NO LIVE LOADS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE TRIBUTARY LOAD PILINGS DURING THE REPAIR PROCESS.)
- Although the combination of dead and live loads are what the pile is capable of holding, they are not what the pile is actually feeling. The deck above has structural strength.
- We calculate whether the pile can be removed from the deck structure for a temporary repair.
- ACI standards require the deck to be calculated as multiple 12” wide beams. We calculate the shear and moment of these beams in the worst-case scenario.
- We utilize these calculations to determine a range for how much upward force can be applied at each pile repair location.
- We will calculate the psi of grout to introduce into each elevating sleeve.
- We can provide engineering services for your review: beam deflection, slab capacity, dead & live loads, etc.
